Job Retention Scheme Bonus

PLEASE NOTE – The Job Retention Bonus Scheme has been scrapped and will no longer be paid out in February 2021.  This is due to the extension of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) to the end of September 2021.

Following the Chancellor’s summer economic update on 8th July 2020, employers who bring furloughed staff back to work until at least 31 January 2021, will be eligible for a £1,000 bonus per employee kept in work.

The aim is to encourage as many employers as possible to keep their staff in work once the job retention scheme ends.

In order to qualify for the £1,000 job retention bonus, employers must bring previously furloughed staff (who they have claimed for under the job retention scheme) back to work and in continuous employment between the end of October2020 and the end of January 2021.  Employees must also earn more than £520 a month on average (the lower earnings limit) in this period.  The payment will be made to employers at the end of February 2021, once RTI (Real Time Information) data has been received by HMRC for January 2021.
